In large pedunculated polyps, unexpected pathology (carcinoma) will occur. Tattooing all, is probably not the way to go.
In clip assisted polypectomy, as shown below, the clip will serve as a “marker” for a relative long period. If histo-pathology shows carcinoma, it is easy to go back for inspection, re-resection or tattooing.
Always try to resect enough of the stalk to allow evaluation of the level of submucosal invasion (Haggitt classification). Read more on “Management of malignant colon polyps”
